Softball Recap: Slaton's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Slaton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 5-2 to the Muleshoe Mules. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mules this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in March.

Isabella Guzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Slaton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolbi McCord, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Slaton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Muleshoe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Slaton will square off against rival Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Muleshoe is set to take on their familiar foe Dimmitt at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Mules' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while the Bobcats have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
