The Universal Academy Falcons lost against the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Universal Academy was outmatched by the Hurricanes on the road and fell 60-31. Universal Academy has struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Wilner Rene, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. Rene hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Mekdeci, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Universal Academy dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.
Universal Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Keswick Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Seven Rivers Christian is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
