Cathedral Prep strolled past General McLane with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Given Cathedral Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while General McLane is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cathedral Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amaree Pickens out in front who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Pickens has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Derek Galla was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Cathedral Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for General McLane, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral Prep will square off against Meadville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. General McLane is on the road again on Friday and plays Fort LeBoeuf at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. General McLane is facing Fort LeBoeuf at the right time seeing as Fort LeBoeuf is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
