Jamestown has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Grafton Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Jamestown fell victim to Lafayette's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Rams, falling 61-0. While losing is never fun, Jamestown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Lafayette is ranked 49th).
Even if they lost, Jamestown's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Lafayette's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Conner (cj) Peay and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Grafton had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Tabb 16-13. The win was just what Grafton needed coming off of a 35-6 loss in their prior contest.
Grafton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makale Barnett out in front who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown. Grafton also got help from Jaden Brown who showed off his sure hands for 131 receiving yards.
Jamestown's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.9 points per game. As for Grafton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-4.
Jamestown was taken down by Grafton 47-3 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Can Jamestown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
