Two dominant guards in Alex Helton and Jurnee Lattimore are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Forestview Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Gaston Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Forestview pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by South Point 92-59. Forestview has not had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, North Gaston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They fell just short of Stuart W. Cramer by a score of 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss North Gaston has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Despite their loss, North Gaston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jalen Howard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Lattimore was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Forestview has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for North Gaston, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Forestview strolled past the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-46. Does Forestview have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
