The Robstown Cottonpickers will venture away from home to face off against the Mathis Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Robstown was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Falfurrias on Friday. The Cottonpickers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Fightin' Jerseys a 10-0 shutout. The Cottonpickers haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Jerseys recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Yollina Pesina made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yadi Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Addison Worden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Robstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Mathis made easy work of Banquete on Friday and carried off a 20-5 victory.
Ava Medrano and Leilani Cantu did most of the damage at the plate: Medrano went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Cantu went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Lexi Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Robstown's record now sits at 12-9-1. As for Mathis, their record is now 7-5.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Robstown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Mathis struggles in that department as they've averaged .549. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Robstown might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Mathis in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Cottonpickers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
