The Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions''s four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They claimed a resounding 47-0 victory over Progreso on the road. The result was nothing new for Santa Gertrudis Academy, who have now won three matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Gonzalez, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 20 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Santa Gertrudis Academy also got a significant boost from Elijah Riojas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Progreso, their defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10.
Santa Gertrudis Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Progreso also has no future games currently scheduled.
