Basketball Recap: Dumas Piles Up the Points Against Kermit

Dumas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 73-36 win over the Kermit Yellow Jackets. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 1225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kermit lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brayden Pando, who posted seven points and five assists. Those five assists gave Pando a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Juarez, who put up four points and six rebounds.

Dumas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Kermit, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Dumas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-50 victory against Shallowater on the 13th. As for Kermit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-47 win against Denver City on the 13th.
