Southampton Academy and the Knights are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Southampton Academy Raiders will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Southampton Academy was fully in charge, breezing past the Warriors 61-32 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southampton Academy.
Southampton Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was G Applewhite out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds. Applewhite has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of H Hurst, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot was able to grind out a solid victory over the Warriors on Tuesday, taking the game 48-37.
Southampton Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Southampton Academy beat the Knights 58-47 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Southampton Academy repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
