Griffin Somlock made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Behringer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Wyatt Gregory was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Plano was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Westmont by a score of 3-1. The Reapers haven't had much luck with the Sentinels recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Plano saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Stellwagen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Sandwich's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Plano, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Sandwich couldn't quite finish off Plano in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
