Baseball Recap: Bartlett Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bartlett proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Riverside-Brookfield Bulldogs 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Josh Colaizzi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bartlett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vince Yario, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Bartlett's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside-Brookfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.

Looking ahead, Bartlett will challenge Elgin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Riverside-Brookfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glenbard East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
