The Nimitz Cougars will face off against the Willis Wildkats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nimitz will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Willis is ranked 34th).
Nimitz unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Dekaney, falling 50-21. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Nimitz in their matchups with Dekaney: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Oak Ridge scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Willis still came out on top. Willis enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over Oak Ridge. The victory was just business as usual for Willis, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Derek Lagway continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Lagway was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Jalen Mickens did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.
With Nimitz's defeat and Dekaney's victory, both teams now sport identical 8-2 records.
