It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bishop ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mission Bay Buccaneers by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Sydney Mafong made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed eight innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Jayla Stafford was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Bishop's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mission Bay, their record now sits at 17-7.
