The Space Coast Vipers will face off against the Satellite Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Space Coast is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Space Coast couldn't beat Astronaut on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Vipers fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 7-6.
Kylie Ulmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Abby Minear made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Satellite, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Titusville get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Mallory Hines looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Satellite got a massive performance out of Michaella Gaskins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Gaskins has posted since back in March. Madison Grey was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Satellite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Satellite's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Space Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Space Coast has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Space Coast couldn't quite finish off Satellite in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 4-2. Will the Vipers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
