The Springville Red Devils can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Cedar Valley with a 39-34 win. The win was just what Springville needed coming off of a 64-43 loss in their prior matchup.
Springville was led to victory by Halle Hall and Natalie Florence. Hall scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Florence shot 4-for-5 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Florence has scored all season.
Cedar Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Hadley Whiting and Ellie Larson. Whiting scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Larson scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Whiting has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Olivia Kaaihue was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Springville's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Cedar Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springville will take on the Thunderbirds at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Timpview will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Cedar Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Wasatch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Aviators likes a good challenge.
