Covington Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Newport Central Catholic on Thursday. The Colonels put the hurt on the Thoroughbreds with a sharp 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Covington Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Newport Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covington Catholic will venture away from home to take on Conner at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newport Central Catholic, they will head out to face off against Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
