B District 1 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Skutt Catholic extended the longest winning streak in B District 1 this week by beating Columbus, 23-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the SkyHawks.
Ralston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Krzemien threw for 162 yards and Andy Chleborad had 121 yards receiving. On the ground Isaac Wallace chipped in 158 yards. Jake Goltl helped Ralston's passing attack out by catching five balls for 40 yards.
DJ Moore made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Rams lost to Beatrice. The 6-foot-1 junior recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.
Ralston's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Krzemien has thrown for 720 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Goltl has 23 catches for 408 yards. Wallace leads the league in rushing with 851 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Gross Catholic and Ralston. The Cougars comes into the matchup ranked 20th in the state, while Tyler Zahn's team ranks 21st.
Gross Catholic made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,859 from 2,164. The improvement was the result of 21-13 victory over Elkhorn South last week.
