In the history of high school football, a total of 49 coaches have won over 400 games in their career, but no one had ever won 200 games as a head coach in two different states.
That changed Friday when Robby Pruitt of
Williston captured his 200th career win as a coach in Florida. Pruitt's Red Devils defeated
Trinity Catholic (Ocala, Fla.) 49-21 to put his record 200-37-0 in the Sunshine State.
Pruitt also coached in Georgia where he piled up a record of 209-63-1 with eight region championships. In Florida, Pruitt has won seven state championships. He has an overall record of 409-101-1.
Pruitt got his start in Florida in 1984 at
University Christian (Jacksonville) where he coached seven seasons and went 79-10 with state titles in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1992. His success continued at
Union County (Lake Butler) starting in 1993 as he won three straight state championships from 1994-96 and had back-to-back 14-0 seasons in 1995-96. He went 88-20 coaching the Fightin' Tigers.
Moving to Georgia in 2000, Pruitt took over the
Fitzgerald program and went 33-6-1 over three seasons with two regional championships. After a one-year stint at
Warner Robins, where he went 6-4, Pruitt returned to Fitzgerald and coached eight more seasons with an 87-15 record and five more regional championships.
Taking over at
Coffee (Douglas) in 2012, Pruitt spent 10 seasons with the Trojans and went 83-38 with one regional championship.
He made his return to Florida in 2022 to coach Williston, posting a 33-8 record in just over three full seasons at the helm.
