Dos Palos fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Avenal on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dos Palos in their matchups with Avenal: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Dos Palos had strong showings from Jacquez Jones, who scored 15 points, and Sixto Ibarra, who scored 11 points.
Mendota typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Firebaugh proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over the Aztecs. The victory was just what Firebaugh needed coming off of a 72-44 defeat in their prior contest.
Dos Palos has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Firebaugh, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
