Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Shaniah Franklin and Jazmine Duncan Lead Saginaw to Victory

There's no place like home for Saginaw, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mineral Wells Rams 38-35. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but the Rough Riders were the better team in the second half.

Saginaw was led to victory by Jazmine Duncan and Shaniah Franklin. Duncan dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Franklin posted 16 points and three steals. Duncan is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Saginaw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mineral Wells only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Mineral Wells' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aniya Richardson, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and three steals, and Kahlea Samples, who put up seven points.

Saginaw has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Mineral Wells, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Saginaw and Granbury will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Granbury has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Mineral Wells, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 37-30 victory against Odessa on the 12th.
