Football Recap: Brenham Piles Up the Points Against Waco

Brenham got themselves on the board against Waco on Friday, but Waco never followed suit. They really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-0 victory. Considering the Cubs have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Brenham's win came down to the chemistry between Xyran Upshaw and his top target Chris Guidry. Upshaw threw for 258 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt while Guidry picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 258 passing yards gave Upshaw a new career-high. Brenham also got help from Cartelle Brown, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Brenham proved: they limited Waco to a paltry 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Doyle Brown for the heroic effort on defense: he. Brenham's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.
