Gorham is 8-1 against Westbrook since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will host the Blue Blazes at 5:00 p.m. Gorham will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Gorham proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past South Portland 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since May 26, 2025.
Bella McBrady spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Gorham's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cam Allen, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westbrook). They blew past Deering 19-1 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Blazes considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Madison Ross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Westbrook let Avery Childs and Emma Rice run wild. Childs went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Rice got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Childs a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyse Broad, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Westbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Westbrook's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Gorham, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Gorham got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Westbrook by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Blue Blazes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
