Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Piles Up the Points Against Seneca

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sacred Heart had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 78-14 win over the Seneca Red Hawks. The Valkyries have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Sacred Heart to victory were ZaKiyah Johnson and Bri Wilkins. Johnson went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points in addition to four steals and three blocks, while Wilkins shot 88% from the field on her way to 16 points and three steals. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amirah 'Tootie' Jordan, who posted eight points along with five assists and three steals.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Sacred Heart, bringing their record for this year to 28-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points over those games. As for Seneca, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.

As of now, neither Sacred Heart nor Seneca have any future games scheduled.
