Lowell Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Catholic Central - Small this week by beating St. Clement, 37-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Lowell Catholic's dynamic duo of Adam Wentzel and Chris Regan proved tough for the Anchormen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wentzel threw for 83 yards and one touchdown and Regan had 83 yards receiving.
Joe D'onofrio was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 239 yards as Pope John XXIII beat St. Clement. Teammate Nicholas Enegbretson added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Pope John XXIII's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mike Sullivan has thrown for 1232 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Khaneil Bruce has 41 catches for 662 yards. D'onofrio leads the league in rushing with 829 yards.
A big matchup in Catholic Central - Small this week will be when Pope John Paul II takes on the Crusaders. As it stands, Pope John Paul II is in third, while Lowell Catholic is in first.
Cathedral made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,826 from 10,976. The improvement came about via a 34-6 victory over St. Joseph Prep last week.
