Boyd is 0-3 against Krum since February of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Boyd will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Boyd's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Pilot Point with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Yellowjackets have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abby Atkinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Boyd got a massive performance out of Taylor Budge, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, Budge posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last 14 games. Another player making a difference was Gabby Salas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bobcats on Monday. Krum lost 18-4 to Celina.
Krum saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Camille Lopez was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Krum's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3-2. As for Boyd, their record is now 17-2.
Krum's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Boyd has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Krum, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Boyd keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?
Boyd couldn't quite get it done against Krum in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 as they fell 13-8. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
