After losing to Shepherd Hill Regional the last time they met, Grafton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gators blew past the Rams 9-3 on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Gators as they're now sitting on four straight.
Haylan Oberg was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
Oberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Brown, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Another was Ryan Chagnon, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Grafton's record is now 9-3. As for Shepherd Hill Regional, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Grafton is set to face off against their familiar foe Algonquin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Shepherd Hill Regional will challenge rival Wachusett Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Mountaineers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
