Football Recap: Angola Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Brady Ravis and Hawk Hasselman

The matchup between Angola and Lakeland on Friday hardly resembled the 19-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Hornets fell 33-27 to the Lakers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 19-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Angola's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hawk Hasselman, who rushed for 175 yards and one TD, and Brady Ravis, who threw for 78 yards and three touchdowns. Hasselman's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 116 rushing yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere three yards per carry. The team can thank Lucas Lentz for the heroic effort on defense: he. Angola didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.

Lakeland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Holbrook, who threw for 367 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. That's the most passing touchdowns Holbrook has posted since back in September of 2024. Levi Cook was Holbrook's top target, picking up 117 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Angola now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Lakeland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
