Azle and Granbury are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2020, but not for long. The Hornets will challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Azle is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Azle earned a 3-1 victory over Brewer.
Azle was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19.
Azle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Macie Baker out in front who had nine digs and one assist.
Meanwhile, Granbury made easy work of Brewer on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Granbury got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 27-25, 33-31.
Azle's record now sits at 23-11. As for Granbury, their record is now 17-19.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Azle has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Granbury struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Azle came out on top in a nail-biter against Granbury when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
