Basketball Recap: Cape Cod Academy Takes a Loss

Cape Cod Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Nauset Regional on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nauset Regional Warriors. The Seahawks' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Cape Cod Academy still got an impressive performance from Harrison Lauf, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 25 points. That was a full 39.1% of Cape Cod Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Lauf, who had 12 points.

Even though they lost, Cape Cod Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Cape Cod Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Nauset Regional, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Martha's Vineyard Regional the next time they take the court. Cape Cod Academy will head out to face Martha's Vineyard Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while Nauset Regional will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
