Freedom and Parkland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Patriots will head out to face off against the Trojans at 4:05 p.m. on Monday. Freedom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Freedom took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past Whitehall 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since March 28th.
Matt Heineman looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up a single earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Freedom's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Kullman, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Parkland won against Emmaus on Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Trojans beat Allentown Central Catholic by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Steven Sepko looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Ben Weninger was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Will Dobil was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Parkland, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Freedom beat Parkland 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
