Camarillo (Calif.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 10 points, drop to two before the final whistle blew on a 10-8 victory over
Saugus (Calif.).
After taking the lead on a field goal by
Garrett Erickson in the second quarter, the Scorpions led 3-0 at the half.
Camarillo expanded its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS's lone score in the quarter came on a
Geron Rogers touchdown run.
Saugus' lone touchdown came on a 42-yard pass from
Chris Hamilton to
Austin Davenport in the fourth quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Saugus, who notched a 20-17 victory over Ventura in its previous outing. The win brought Camarillo's winning streak to three games. The loss broke Saugus' two-game winning streak.
