The Northampton County Jaguars had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-33 win over Northwest Halifax. This was payback for Northampton County, who suffered a 51-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Michaela Hodge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Hodge is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kashanti Parker, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Northwest Halifax still got an impressive performance from Aleigha Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 19 rebounds. Allen has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Camaya Adkins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Northampton County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Northwest Halifax, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northampton County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hertford County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Northwest Halifax, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
