Reed-Custer is 1-9 against Peotone since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Reed-Custer Comets will be staying on the road to face off against the Peotone Blue Devils at 6:45 p.m. on January 29th. Hopefully Reed-Custer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Reed-Custer posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Herscher 43-16 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Reed-Custer has posted against Herscher since January 13, 2020.
Kaylee Tribble continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Beard, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Peotone came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Streator with points to spare, taking the game 40-23. Given Peotone's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Streator is ranked 671st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reed-Custer now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Peotone, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Reed-Custer might still be hurting after the 45-22 defeat they got from Peotone when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Reed-Custer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
