The Deer Trail Eagles lost against the Stratton Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Deer Trail took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 79-19. Deer Trail was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-9.
They used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Ivan Paredes,
Lance Reed, and
Aiden Coetzee posted four points each.
Stratton found their leader in underclassman Gavin Ruhs, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bohnen, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Stratton, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Trail will take on the Longhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lone Star is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Stratton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Genoa-Hugo/Karval will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Eagles are ranked 96th).
