The Smithville Warriors entered their tilt with the Ruskin Golden Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Smithville slipped by Ruskin 69-68 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Austin Weinzerl, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Shaffer, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Ruskin, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Smithville will head out on the road to take on Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ruskin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Raytown South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ruskin's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
