The Air Academy Kadets were the 80-40 winner over the Castle View Sabercats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Air Academy took a 57-43 bruising from Castle View on Tuesday.
Several Kadets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Max Howery, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The match was Howery's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven McGough, who scored ten points.
Evan Mckean continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Castle View, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mckean has scored at least 25% of Castle View's points. Another player making a difference was Vitorio Dante, who scored 13 points.
Air Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Castle View, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
After both having extra time off, Air Academy and Doherty will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Doherty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. Castle View will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
