Basketball Game Preview: Concordia Lutheran Crusaders vs. Iowa Colony Pioneers

The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders and the Iowa Colony Pioneers will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in Concordia Lutheran's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Concordia Lutheran's tournament run continued when they took on Nolan Catholic on Saturday. Concordia Lutheran fell 74-62 to Nolan Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1041st, while the Vikings are ranked 436th).

Despite their defeat, Concordia Lutheran saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaxon Coleman, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 25 points, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Coleman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Loukas Naum, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points along with six steals and five boards.

Meanwhile, Iowa Colony beat Angleton 69-62 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pioneers.

Iowa Colony has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Concordia Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
