Softball Recap: Coventry Has No Trouble Against St. Mary Academy-Bay View

Coventry won the last time they faced St. Mary Academy-Bay View and things went their way on Friday too. The Oakers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bengals. The result was nothing new for the Oakers, who have now won five games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Payton Baris, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Fennessey, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Coventry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary Academy-Bay View only posted an OBP of .333.

The win made it two in a row for Coventry and bumps their season record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for St. Mary Academy-Bay View, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coincidentally, Coventry and St. Mary Academy-Bay View will both be playing Smithfield the next time they take the field. The Bengals will host the Sentinels at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Oakers will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
