Gracie Burnett and Zinnia Berg did some serious damage despite the final result: Burnett went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run, while Berg went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Sunset got themselves on the board against Westview on Friday, but Westview never followed suit. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Apollos in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.
The result came thanks to Sydney Arnold's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddy Larson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Emily Belisle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Beaverton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Sunset, their win bumped their record up to 20-11.
Sunday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Beaverton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Sunset struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
