The Linden Eagles will challenge the Vicksburg Bulldogs at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Linden is coming into the game hot, having won their last 16 games.
On Thursday, Linden made easy work of Swartz Creek and carried off an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 17 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Kayla Widner (2025) made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Helm (2025), who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addi Siegwald (2027), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Linden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Vicksburg couldn't beat Edwardsburg on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Bulldogs came up short against the Eddies, falling 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Eddies since May 8, 2019.
Kayla Chisholm made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Linden pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Vicksburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Linden's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Vicksburg, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Linden continue to outrun the ball?
