The Rosman Tigers came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Mitchell 59-40. Given Rosman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Mitchell is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alissa Cheek, who scored 24 points. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiahna Sexton, who scored 12 points.
Rosman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Mitchell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Avery County the next time they take the court. Mitchell will host Avery County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Rosman will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
