It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Ell-Saline Cardinals can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Wichita County on Friday, falling 64-28. Ell-Saline's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wichita County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wyatt Gardner, who rushed for 230 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 89 yards and a touchdown. Khris Hermosillo was another key contributor, rushing for 130 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wichita County's defense and their seven sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Ell-Saline's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Wichita County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Ell-Saline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wichita County is on the road again on Saturday and play against Lyndon at 11:00 a.m. on November 25th. Lyndon is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
