The Southside Christian Warriors were the 52-35 winner over the Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Southside Christian took a hard 45-31 fall against Jacksonville Christian Academy on Monday. Southside Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Annie Winterstein, who scored ten points along with eight steals. Anna Coley was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Southside Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville Christian Academy only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Nylah Moore was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with five assists and five steals for Jacksonville Christian Academy. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least a third of Jacksonville Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Goodson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Southside Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Southside Christian has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Community Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Southside Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pamlico Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Jacksonville Christian Academy is facing Pamlico Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Pamlico Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
