Pinnacle is 0-10 against Monticello since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pinnacle Panthers will be playing at home against the Monticello Buckaroo at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Pinnacle is ranked 124th, while Monticello is ranked 123rd).
Pinnacle scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Freedom Prep Academy 51-8 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Pinnacle as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinnacle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heather Kerr, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Kerr has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jostyn McLean, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Monticello suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Monument Valley at home and fell 62-23. Monticello was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-15.
Pinnacle's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Monticello, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Pinnacle came up short against Monticello when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 41-30. Can Pinnacle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
