Baseball Recap: Cary Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Raleigh Christian Academy, Cary Academy was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the GRACE Christian Eagles 9-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Chargers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Oliver Swartz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other pitching news, Declan Jack looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Cary Academy is 5-1 when Jack allows one or fewer hits, but 2-8 otherwise.

Swartz wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Everett Cagle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Cagle has become a key player for Cary Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

Cary Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for GRACE Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cary Academy will welcome Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for GRACE Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
