The Maplewood Rockets lost against the Bristol Panthers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Maplewood had to suffer through a rough 79-39 loss at the hands of Bristol. While losing is never fun, Maplewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 755th, while Bristol is ranked 264th).
Despite the defeat, Maplewood saw an underclassman step up: Brighton Roper scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roper has scored all season.
Maplewood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Bristol, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maplewood is on the road again on Friday and plays Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Maplewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Bristol, they will head out on the road to take on Badger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bristol knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matches -- so hopefully Badger likes a good challenge.
