The Herron Achaeans are taking a road trip to square off against the Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Herron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Herron came up short against Purdue Polytechnic and fell 8-4. The Achaeans haven't had much luck with the Techies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Colvin Meek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Herron is 4-1-1 when Meek posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Elon Sharp was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Purdue Broad Ripple). They put the hurt on Eminence with a sharp 25-15 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Lynx, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Purdue Broad Ripple let Edmund Zimmerman and Mateo Bushfield run wild. Zimmerman went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Bushfield went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Bushfield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emory Clement, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Purdue Broad Ripple always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .638. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Herron's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-6-1. As for Purdue Broad Ripple, their record now sits at 9-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Herron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Purdue Broad Ripple struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Herron couldn't quite get it done against Purdue Broad Ripple in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 9-4. Can the Achaeans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
