Basketball Game Preview: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Clayton Comets + Official Tickets

The Harnett Central Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Clayton Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Harnett Central has given up an average of 68.2 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harnett Central managed to keep up with Fuquay - Varina until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Trojans lost 89-69 to the Bengals. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (60), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Harnett Central got top-tier performance from Rylan Beasley, who shot 82% from the field en route to 21 points and six rebounds. Beasley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was King Murdock, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 15 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clayton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against East Wake by a score of 49-39 on Tuesday.

Clayton pushed their record up to 1-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games. As for Harnett Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Harnett Central was dealt a bruising 84-57 defeat at the hands of Clayton in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Thankfully for the Trojans, Bj Freeman (who dropped a triple-double with 22 points, 20 rebounds, and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
