The Coastal Christian Centurions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-58 to New Bern. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Coastal Christian still got an impressive performance from Aidan Davies, who scored 24 points. The match was Davies' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Adgent, who scored 11 points.
Leading New Bern to victory were Jussan Wiggins and Jordan Hawkins. Wiggins scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Hawkins scored 17 points along with three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Zymari Buck was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Coastal Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for New Bern, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Coastal Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Heide Trask at 5:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023.
