Fairland is 10-0 against Chesapeake since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Fairland Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Chesapeake Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Fairland is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Fairland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 28 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 71-23 win over South Point at home. Given Fairland's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while South Point is ranked 197th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fairland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bree Allen out in front who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Allen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Russell, who scored 21 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Chesapeake's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Portsmouth on the road and fell 65-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chesapeake has scored all season.
Fairland's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Chesapeake, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Fairland against Chesapeake when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 68-22 victory. Does Fairland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chesapeake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
